Question: 502-1111
When can I cut back my Witch Hazel and Scotch Broom? My broom is about four feet and clinging to the ground. My Witch hazel is in bloom now. Linda, New London, CT

Mort's Answer:
Your Broom will bloom in May or June. You can cut about a foot off now. This will lessen the otherwise profuse yellow flowers. Cytisus scoparius has a crimson edged flower. Your plant can grow to nine feet. You should wait until late April to cut back your Hazel.
