Question: 1354-2716
How deep do I plant black walnuts and how far apart? Ginny, Zanesville, OH

Mort's Answer:
Black Walnut should be planted three feet or more deep. You can use a crowbar to reach that depth. Do not put fertilizer in the hole but you can put good loam at the bottom of the hole. Walnut trees get huge. You need 50 feet between trees and they are everything that they are cracked up to be.
