Question: 78-5201
How can I keep the viola from getting into my lawn? Marguerite, Warwick, RI

Mort's Answer:
You can build a barrier of patio block on edge. Your bed should recede to two inches below the top of the block. With the edge at the same level as the lawn, you can run the wheel of the mower on the top of the block. They come in various colors. If you use target herbicides , it will kill any grass it touches as well. This could be an annual problem without the barrier. Metal edging is also available but it will not accommodate the mower.
