Question: 1269-2515
How far back can I cut my shrub rose. It is very lanky. You told me to stop using liquid fertilizer and it has thrived this spring. Pat, North Stonington,, CT

Mort's Answer:
The new shrub or landscape roses are very abundant in blooms . Because they bloom on new branches they can be trimmed quite often. They are usually single flowered and pest free. These low maintenance roses has become very popular and does not require the meticulous pruning like the hybrid teas. You can trim them back lightly in the spring and summer and heavier in the fall.
