Question: 908-1213
I had a sassafras tree cut down last spring. Now I have about a hundred little trees coming up everywhere. What can I do to stop them? Annette

Mort's Answer:
There is a product called Vine-X. It is a systemic herbicide. It comes in a tube with a brush at the end. It must be applied on each individual stem. It will go through the entire plant down to the roots. You can use mechanical means like tilling frequently before they get too tall. Cutting them down will only encourage them to spread. It is such a beautiful tree. You might advertise to give them away to the person willing to dig them out. Ironically, they must be dug prior to the leaves coming out to survive.
