Question: 1073-213
What is that red berried bush that I see in the woods at this time of year in the countryside? Ron, Quaker Hills, CT

Mort's Answer:
High bush cranberry brightens up the winter scenery and grows to 8 to 15 feet. It is not a cranberry but a Viburnum from the Honeysuckle family. V. trilobum makes a great hedge. In June it will produce a flat cluster of white flowers. V.opuntia is the European variety that has inedible fruit unlike the V. trilobum americana.
