How much is too much potash and chicken manure? Donald, Alpine.AL

Mort's Answer:
If you add bone meal, you have the perfect organic combination of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium for you vegetable garden. Rotating the crops with root, leaf and fruit vegetables will assure continued nutrient without synthetic fertilizer. Continual annual applications of potash will raise ph in the first few years. Eventually it will increase ph. Since your soil is slightly alkaline, heavy dosage in the first few years will bring the ph closer to seven. Use about 40 lbs. for each 5,000 sg.ft. on average for each of the elements every year.
