Question: 528-1611
I have a thorned tree that was sold to me as a flowering plum. Do you know what it is? It has a little green fruit that has a bitter cherry taste.

Mort's Answer:
Technically, all plums and cherries are Prunus. You probably have blackthorn. It has a green fruit that turns black and thorns with a early white flower. Prunus spinosa is also known as sloe. The fruit is used to flavor sloe gin . It should not be confused with the hawthorn, Crataegus tomentosa.
