Question: 790-3012
I was in love with my perennials in front of our house (one side of the porch gets a lot of sun - the other almost as much). I have lost interest in keeping up with the deadheading and crab grass. I have Helen's flowers, balloon flowers, dianthus, coreopsis and stonecrop. If I decide to eventually remove these, can you suggest some bushes or some sort of odorless plants we can plant and which would have nice color in summer as well as winter. Irene, Planfield, CT

Mort's Answer:
Dwarf evergreens come in various colors. Gold chamaecyparis, blue robin's nest spruce, multi- green Hinoki Cypress (C.obtusa gracilis nana) and blue rug juniper need hardly any attention when planted with mulch.
