PJM Rhododendrons

Question: 1175-4014
My two PJM rhododendrons that I planted this spring have a brown streak in the center of the leaves. I see no other sick signs. I watered them heavy when I planted them and again from time to time. Otherwise the plant bloomed and looks healthy. Al, Cranston, RI

Mort's Answer:
This year has been really dry especially this summer. It is more likely a symptom of irregular watering. A lot of other plants have suffered from similar dysfunctions. Soak up the roots thoroughly before the first frost. I would also add a wood mulch for this first winter.
