Question: 41-1216
I have raspberries and wild roses growing on the east side of my house. They get only morning sun with no flowers or fruit. What can I do? Jerry, Gardner,MA

Mort's Answer:
A little fertilizer and proper pruning will keep you from going into mourning. Multiflora roses can produce a lot of flowers with 5-10-10 fertilizer. A handful for each bush will bring forth a white flat bloom. Very rarely they will have a pink flower. You can cut them to a foot from the ground each fall. The raspberries bloom on two year old wood. You can cut half the new sprouts to the ground now. All older canes should also be removed . The can also do well with 5-10-10. Use aged manure on both this fall. If you move them, both prefer full sun.
