Question: 1150-3114
My kiwi trees have yet to produce flowers for fruit. I planted the male and female two years ago. They are about ten feet tall. We did give them some chicken manure. There are plenty of leaves. Any thoughts? Rodney, Norwich, CT

Mort's Answer:
Chicken manure is great natural fertilizer. Unfortunately, you have a disproportionate amount of nitrogen to phosphorus. This will eventually level when the bacteria from the manure releases the phosphorus in the soil. Juvenal plants are late to bloom. When they reach adolescence, they will bring the flowers and the trees will pollinate to procreate. Add some bonemeal to the soil this fall.
