Question: 566-2611
We have a frame that is 8 ft. by 10 ft. and a foot deep. It is on top of a concrete slab. I planted onions and peppers. What else can I plant? Russ, Decatur, IL

Mort's Answer:
You may be disappointed in the onions. All root crops require depth. Peppers and tomatoes love heat, which is bound to occur on the cement. Given the required space for tomatoes, which also love heat, you might consider using pillow gardens or tubs in addition to the eighty sq.ft. area that you have. Pillows are simply bags of good potting soil on their sides with one or two holes in them. Of course, you can grow canned tomatoes.
