Cross Pollinate

Question: 186-5201
I planted melons and tomatoes together. Will the bees cross pollinate them? Paul, Silverdale, WA

Mort's Answer:
Pollination will produce fruit but not affect the fruit itself. Seeds from that fruit may be in variance within the same specie of plant. Bees are affected by the flowers that they visit. Apple honey is much different in flavor than rose honey, for instance.
