Question: 1230-615
Is cat litter good for the lawn? Rodney, Norwich, CT

Mort's Answer:
Clumps of urine could burn the grass. It is best added to a compost pile and used for planting shrubs and other plants at a later date. Soils in southeastern Connecticut are very fine and adding sand would help provide some drainage in the lawn. I added cat litter to my rose garden but a feral cat has been supplementing my amendments. I plan on extending the garden to make a bigger corral. I never promised it a rose garden.
