Question: 735-1612
I planted broccoli, cauliflower and some other brassicas earlier this year. Some leaves have turned yellow. The temps have gone down to 30. Should I remove the discolored leaves. Roy, Taylorville, IL

Mort's Answer:
The outer leaves will help protect the rest of the plant. I would not remove them unless they are mushy. They will probably turn green as the season progresses. They can handle much colder temperatures. Some granular fertilizer could be in order, if you have not already applied it.
