Question: 515-1116
My apricot trees seemed to have a fungus last year. They are in the middle of a cedar grove. Can I spray now? Doug, Bowling Green, KY

Mort's Answer:
Fungi spores will appear in the next few weeks on the cedars. They are a beautiful red spike that is about six inches long. You will need to cut them off immediately. Unfortunately, the spores alternate between the cedars in the winter and fruit trees in the summer. If you miss them this early spring, then you will need to apply micronized sulphur, when the leaves mature and not before. You can apply Neem oil now or dormant oil spray just before buds break.
